Want to give your users the option to stop receiving emails about a specific sale, without unsubscribing from your entire mailing list? This guide will walk you through how to create an email campaign in HiveOne that allows users to easily opt out of sale-related emails while staying subscribed to your regular updates.
This process involves setting up an email campaign, adding an opt-out link, creating an automation to tag users, and sending emails to a segment that excludes those who opt out.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Set Up the Campaign
Go to the HiveOne dashboard.
Click on "Messaging & Workflows."
Click on "Email Campaigns."
Click "Create Campaign" and follow the steps to set up your email campaign.
Step 2: Add an Opt-Out Link to Your Email
In the email editor, add a link that lets users opt out of sale emails. For example:
“Don’t want to hear about this sale anymore? [Click here!]”
Link this to a confirmation page. The page should reassure users that they’ve opted out of sale emails but are still subscribed to your main email list.
Click "Save & Exit."
Step 3: Create an Automation to Tag Users
Navigate to the "Automations" section.
Click "Add New Trigger."
Select "Clicks on a link in an email."
Choose the email and the opt-out link you created.
Add a tag to users who click the link. For example, name it "Unsubscribed from Sale."
Save and turn on your automation.
Step 4: Create a Segment of Users Who Did Not Opt Out
Go to "Lists & Subscribers."
Filter your list to exclude users who have the "Unsubscribed from Sale" tag.
Click "Save As New Segment."
Step 5: Send Your Email to the New Segment
Go back to your email campaign.
Open the recipients section.
Select the segment you created in the previous step.
Now, only users who did not opt out of the sale emails will receive the campaign. The segment will automatically update when someone clicks the opt-out link, so you don’t need to manually update it.
Tips
Confirmation Page: Make sure your confirmation page clearly states that users are still subscribed to other emails.
Automation: Always double-check your automation to ensure it triggers correctly.
Segments: Your segment will stay up-to-date automatically, making your life easier!
